Urban expedition: Changes in the Urban Fabric — from the Stuwerviertel to the Nordbahnhof

Our urban expedition takes us along the typical Viennese perimeter block developments of the 19th century, past linear blocks (Zeilenbau) of post-war modernism in Leopoldstadt, to the current urban development project on the Nordbahnhofgelände site, which has a car-free core and a traffic calmed peripheral zone. Is a trend to be discerned here? What do the new concepts for traffic look like? And, how has housing development in Vienna changed? This dialogue-based tour actively engages schoolchildren in discussions and tasks, such as completing systems analyses, finding things, and using photographs.
