As the only European building, TrIIIple by Henke Schreieck was among the five projects in the finals for the International Highrise Award 2022/23.

As controversial as the history of the zoning and usage of the public land in the immediate vicinity of motorways is, the urban and architectural qualities of Henke Schreieck Architekten’s solution are convincing. The quarter gains from the increased accessibility of the area. A two-storey base connects the three towers to provide public facilities, while a rooftop park with access to the Danube Canal on the motorway overpass and a square opens into the neighbourhood. Even with the materials and the details, Henke Schreieck set an unusual standard for Vienna in their design for interlocking urban space inside and outside. The architects attempted to counter the suspect nature of profit-oriented high-rise housing with a structure that is open to all uses.
