Total Refusal: Intervention Video Games
To accompany the exhibition 'Serious Fun'
The Az W is celebrating this year's Jane's Walk with a stroll through digital citscapes in video games and a discussion embracing urbanism, architecture and history.
With the increased relevance of video games, not only commercially but also culturally, in their performances Total Refusal appropriate digital space in games and provide new activities and narratives for it. In doing so, they forget about the usual gameplay and explore virtual public space as peaceful flaneurs, strolling around with a critical eye.
The artist research collective Total Refusal are: Susanna Flock, Robin Klengel, Leonhard Müllner and Michael Stumpf, Vienna
* Jane’s Walk is a series of walks held worldwide every year on 4 May, the birthday of urban activist and urbanist Jane Jacobs
