This self-help movement, which emerged from the misery after the fall of the monarchy, demands housing developments as an alternative to the residential palacelike social housing projects of the “red Vienna”.

In recognition of the great help by the Swedish government after World War II, this housing estate was named after the Swedish president Per Albin Hansson. The concept with its over 1000 appartments, residential streets, gardenpaths and alleys it can be compared with the “garden-city-concept” of the early 1920ies.
