Danube Canal (3) Cruise
There’s a crocodile swimming on the Little Danube: ‘Around 20 firemen and specially equipped divers attempted to cut off the young caiman’s route to the Danube Canal. The animal recognised the danger and wanted to escape back into the water…’
How essential the contribution to the attractiveness of a city is made by the element water is shown by this and other individual recent initiatives. Nevertheless, the ‘Little Danube’ has had a paltry existence since the 1950s, and is still waiting for re-animation.
This sundays excursion is going by ship from Nussdorfer Weir to the Alberner Hafen, to gain a variety of views of the historic development: Otto Wagner’s far-sighted concepts, the many design projects and plans to have swum after the canal, and the current status quo – from Hundertwasser to Zaha Hadid.
