Public Walk 4: Manifestationen
Oppositional Publics + The Power of Place
A series of 4 Public Walks accompanies the exhibition, each of which begins with a brief guided tour of the exhibition by the curator and then continues in public space.
This walk explores exceptional situations in the city, from the Ring Road to Karlsplatz as a local counter-history: from the manifestations of white slavery and the first women’s strike to the Mother’s Day demonstrations, from a sea of light and the Thursday demonstrations to anti-fascist strolls, from lecture hall occupations and university barricades to a media camp. Such manifestations temporarily occupy the public’s space. They generate conflicts, demand political changes and fight for justice.
