Opening of the exhibition & summer fête
On Stage with Carl Auböck
An exhibition opening „From Tableware to Prefabricated Housing“
Marking the hundredth anniversary of his birth and Az W’s acquisition of his archive, this exhibition offers dual insight – into both Auböck’s oeuvre and Az W’s collection activity. Like a large-format archival box, the exhibition opens up, yielding material from Carl Auböck’s cosmopolitan life and work. While immersing themselves in plans, sketches, photos, and other finds from the collection’s holdings, visitors will also get a glimpse of how Az W goes about its work!
At the opening event, items which vividly illustrate Auböck’s broad interpretation of the scope of architecture and design disciplines – extending from single-family homes, via residential buildings, to tableware and skifashion – will be brought onto the stage. Amid these treasures we’ll hold a dialogue with our guests about the significance of his diverse oeuvre, particularly in the context of the postwar decades. Within the framework of Living Archive – Az W’s new program series – the event kicks off our intense engagement with the acclaimed architect and designer.
