Oases in the City

Plants, trees and green spaces in the city are enormously important to us for recreation, cooling and for protection from the sun. Nature is good for us as well as being beautiful to look at with all the variety of colours and shapes. Where is your favourite place to spend time? And where do we go to cool off? We set off on a search, comparing different places equipped with a thermometer and a thermal imaging camera. We visit the Donauplatte, the Danube Island and other green oases. Back at the Architekturzentrum Wien, we build and design a small oasis based on our impressions and found objects. We find out how important the greenery is — and a hammock is always a joy. Everybody can take their own bottle gardens home with them at the end.
