Viennese architect Franz Kiener (born 1926) belongs to a generation of Austrian architects who received their training in the Holzmeister school. Influenced by Konrad Wachsmann, from 1956 he was interested in themes such as planning on a grid, modular organisational systems and the use of prefabrication in building construction. His important buildings include the EVN office building (1963) in the Südstadt, which he erected together with Wilhelm Hubatsch and Gustav Peichl, the AEG trade fair pavilion in Vienna (1970) and the model school in Imst (1973), which he built with Ferdinand Kitt.
In the context of this event the book “Franz Kiener. Eine Ordnung als Anfang” will be presented for the first time.
