Bridging the Gap
Fri 16.05.2008, 3pm – 5pm, admission free
for kids aged 6 to 12
Arch bridges, chain bridges, suspension bridges, hanging bridges, cable stayed bridges — find out more about the construction and history of these key feats of civil engineering at the Architekturzentrum Wien. Equiped with tape measure, spirit level and other tools we build our own bridge on a scale of 1:1.
We test its load-bearing capacity over water.
Living in Space
Sat 17.05.2008, 3pm – 5pm, admission free
for kids aged 6 to 12
We study the difference between single-family houses, terraced houses, apartment buildings or tower blocks, and the things that influence us when we’re looking for a new home. Then we develop a space-age housing model anno 3333. It’s up to you to decide whether you want to live in outer space, on Mars, or somewhere else in the future.
