All the Best. A Walk 2004
On the Way to SocióPolis. A modern search for shelter in the Architekturzentrum Wien exhibition
The first documented population census was held in the year 0, and was the reason why Jesus’ birthplace was a simple manger in Bethlehem. 2004 years later, demographic statistics show that the composition of the population structure is changing with long-term effects: multicultural mix, the dissolution of traditional family structures and the increasing obsolescence of the Western industrial society have led to a situation where new forms of housing have to be found for the future.
In a kind of urban laboratory, the SocióPolis project looks for feasible housing possibilities for the future in a reshaped society. As a response to the search for shelter for the future, three projects are being presented as examples from the exhibition on the SocióPolis project .
