TyrolCITY
Book presentation and film screening, panel discussion
TyrolCITY has developed land in the mountains to form a coherent urban configuration. The Inntal valley and the valleys to either side of it are described as a settlement zone with all the features of an urban conglomeration. While the historic centres are frozen, business parks, industrial and residential parks have been spreading in the zones in-between.
The group YEAN (Young European Architects Network), which consists of 6 young architects from Vienna, Rotterdam and Bordeaux, describes this regional development in a study. The information is conveyed in graphical representations to provide a radically modified image: TirolCITY as a high-density urban conglomeration.
The publication ‘TirolCITY. Neue Urbanität in den Alpen’ (TyrolCITY. New Urbanity in the Alps) was produced in the course of the study along with a film by Rob Gijsbers that showed the future of the countryside in the Tiroler Landesausstellung 2005, and documents a virtual tour of the lively urban space of TyrolCITY.
A brief book presentation and a screening of the TyrolCITY Film (20 mins.) are to be followed by a panel discussion on the topic.
