Panel Discussion
The MuseumsQuartier. Retrospective and Perspectives of a Decade
presentation and discussion
in German
No other architectural brief has been more decisively caught in the crossfire between political and media interest. This cultural project polarised society into committed proponents and bitter adversaries with unprecedented vehemence and for an exceptionally long period of time. In the wrangling over the size and contents of the buildings, in the change of decision makers at a political level, the architect found himself to be the last survivor to have carried the Museumsquartier idea from the competition design to the realised project. This construction history is shown in a fast-forward overview, the reading tower in all its metamorphoses and a view cast on more recent architectural considerations.
